The view

The brand promises one thing. The architecture says another. The operating model quietly argues with both. Most of what fails in a project is decided in that gap, long before anyone notices it.

The work is to close it. Reading a place the way a guest does and the way an owner does at the same time, and making the idea, the program, and the numbers agree before they are built into the walls.

Thirty years across Nike, W, EDITION, Equinox, and Marriott point to one thing worth repeating. The story and the operation are not two conversations. They are one, and the time to settle them is while it is still cheap to change your mind.

Where the work is useful Three
01

Deciding what the thing is, before the brief exists

The earliest and most valuable decision is what a place or a brand is actually for, and the argument it intends to make. It comes first, while a project is still an idea and everything is still possible.

02

Turning that decision into how the place works

An idea only survives if it holds up at six in the morning and ten at night. The program and the experience are shaped around the day people actually have, and around the business that has to carry it.

03

Holding the idea through to the built result

Direction is worth little if it dissolves in construction. That means staying with the work through design, partners, and the room, so the thing that opens still says what it set out to say.

The record

Conceived and launched Equinox Hotels. Led design across seventy locations and more. Directed Marriott's luxury portfolio, from Ritz-Carlton and St. Regis to EDITION and W. Earlier, W Hotels and Bliss for Starwood, the EDITION concept with Ian Schrager, and brand environments for Nike and Victorinox.

If you are early on something and not yet sure what it wants to be, that is the right time to talk.
